Forget the cocktails. It’s the age of the “dirty soda,” and brands like SodaStream are living for it.
With Amazon Prime Day falling right at the start of Sober October, shoppers are already racing to get their hands on the currently discounted SodaStream E-TERRA, the popular soda maker that’s exploded thanks to a bunch of TikTokers and a few Mormon moms .
“We don’t drink or do drugs, so it’s kind of our vice,” reality star Demi Engemann admitted in the promotional clip for The Secret Lives of Mormon Women, which aired on Hulu on September 6.

The new moms’ group in Utah is part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which strongly discourages caffeine, alcohol and drug use — but has a particular obsession with over-the-counter fizzy drinks.
On the show, the moms visited Swig, a popular chain in the western United States. It’s called the home of dirty soda, or fizzy drinks that combine sugary syrups over cream and ice. Sort of like a mocktail, but served in a cup size comparable to a Starbucks Venti drink.
The soda shop already got the celebrity endorsement a few years ago when singer Olivia Rodrigo was snapped posing with a Swig cup in hand. But now, everyone on TikTok wants to make their own dirty sodas at home and is posting videos of their recipes — some of which include the coveted SodaStream, one of the best kitchen gadgets on Amazon.
The SodaStream produces fresh sparkling water at the push of a button with three preset carbonation levels to choose from. The brand offers a variety of soda flavors, such as lime and cherry, in addition to newly released non-alcoholic craft cocktail mixers for aspiring mixologists.
Tiktokers love them and buyers swear these soda machines are saving time and money.
The best-selling SodaStream E-TERRA Sparkling Water Maker Bundle is currently 34% off on Amazon ahead of Prime Day — though it’s unclear how long the deal will last given the rising popularity of the dirty soda trend.
In the reviews section, buyers have called their SodaStreams a “game changer” and said the little devices are a smart investment for anyone who goes through multiple sodas every week. Some have even claimed that SodaStream has helped them lose weight by replacing soda with regular drinks.
